I used physical and mechanical restraint as a psychiatric technician at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia for twelve years. I have taught many thousands of people how to use both in the twenty plus years since. When we started this multi-year project in 2000, restraint design had not improved much since the middle ages.
